Every child’s happiness and wellbeing is our shared goal

Wellbeing2

Happy children learn better, it’s that simple. At IHS Al Garhoud, wellbeing isn’t a buzzword or a once-a-year assembly. It is the foundation of our school day. It supports child’s mind, feelings, friendships, body and sense of self, every single day, because that’s what it really takes to grow into a confident, caring person. We work tirelessly to make sure every child feels safe, included and genuinely happy here – a commitment that recently earned us an ‘Outstanding’ rating in personal and social development.

Happiness Hub — every week, grades 1 to 4

One period a week that belongs to nothing but your child. A chance to show off a skill, try something new, and spend time with a teacher away from grades and deadlines. Simple — and that’s exactly the point.

Project Elixir

Project Elixir is ours — built by learners, for learners. It’s led by Wellbeing Champions from the grades 3 and 4 student councils, with educators supporting them. Every single classroom at our school has its own Wellness Advocate looking out for it. When a child needs support, it often comes from a friend first. That’s the whole idea.

Growing, every way

Confidence doesn’t only come from a classroom. Our Student Council members go through real leadership training, and every child gets access to both team and individual sport through a broad PE programme. Growing stronger and growing as a leader go hand in hand.

An evidence-backed tool that helps us understand — and build — every child's emotional intelligence and wellbeing, across the whole school.

Support doesn't only happen in a counsellor's office. It's woven into Art, PE and Dance classes too, so growing socially and emotionally feels as natural as the rest of the school day.

Every lesson connects a wellbeing idea to real life, so children understand not just what to do, but why it actually matters.

Our counsellors don't just step in when something's wrong — they actively teach the skills children need to handle school, friendships and feelings well in the first place.
