IHS at a Glance

What began as Bharat Vidyalaya in 1961, a modest school in a Bur Dubai villa, with ten students and a single dedicated teacher, has grown into one of the most trusted names in the Indian education across the Gulf. Today, The Indian High School Group spans three campuses in Dubai, nurturing a combined community of over 14,000 learners, guided by approximately 1,500 educators and support professionals.

The Al Garhoud Campus was established in 1988, bringing the IHS Group's founding spirit to one of Dubai's most vibrant, well connected neighbourhoods. The campus serves children from Pre-KG to grade 4, ages three to ten, a place where the foundations of character, confidence and curiosity are carefully and lovingly laid.

The warm and nurturing classroom climate in KG fosters children's engagement in learning.

Governed for Purpose, Not Profit

IHS is managed by a philanthropic Board of Trustees on a certified not-for-profit basis. Every fee collected, every resource acquired and every appointment made serves the child in the classroom, not a shareholder's return. The DSIB independently assessed the school's governance as Very Good in 2023-24.

Why Choose IHS AGC

Academic Excellence

Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, IHS Al Garhoud delivers a rigorous, internationally benchmarked curriculum from Pre-KG to Grade 4. From the very first year of KG, children are introduced to concepts such as that of computer coding and Arabic, meeting all UAE Ministry of Education statutory requirements while preparing learners for a world that demands both technical confidence and cultural fluency.

Our 21:1 student-teacher ratio helps us ensure that our students are always well taken care of. We focus on the academic, social and personal success of each and every student.

Inspired by the core values of the UAE, our students learn not just to achieve, but to contribute. Kindness, resilience, generosity and tolerance are practised daily in every classroom, on every playground and in every interaction. Students who leave IHS Al Garhoud at the end of Grade 4 are not just academically prepared. They are ready as the proactive global citizens.

We are recognised by KHDA as Outstanding in key areas including Personal Development, Health and Safety, and Parent Engagement, reflecting our commitment to student wellbeing, leadership and strong school-home partnerships.

Parents report that staff act promptly on their concerns and their views are sought regularly. Cultural events are very much appreciated by parents and well attended. The school uses a wide range of methods, including digital platforms, to communicate with parents. Parents are welcomed into the school.
