Positive Education is the combination of traditional education principles with the study of happiness and wellbeing, using Martin Seligman ‘s PERMA model and the Values in Action (VIA) classification. PERMAH framework has been applied in practice through elements such as Project-Based Learning, Anti-Bullying programs etc.
Positive education weekly modules ensure that our students remain positive, balanced and resilient. The modules focus on specific skills that assist students to strengthen their relationships, build positive emotions, enhance personal resilience, promote mindfulness and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
Resources provided by the Institute of Positive Education are shared with the Moral Education teachers who effectively use it in the beginning or last segment of the weekly Moral Education period. Students workout and reflect on the worksheets, sharing their insights with the teachers.
The school has initiated ‘Care Letters’ which describe ways to cope with challenges and are shared with the entire IHS community of parents, students and staff. Programmes like ‘Time to smile, giggle and laugh’, ‘Project One’ also reinforce the importance of creating a positive environment and a happier world.
